Dr Eduan Deetlefs did his basic training at the University of Pretoria before specializing as a physician and subsequently a specialist gastroenterologist at the University of Cape Town and Groote Schuur Hospital.

He has been in private practice for close to 10 years and practices from Mediclinic Milnerton.

He has admitting rights and performs endoscopies at both Mediclinic Milnerton and Life Vincent Pallotti Hospitals. New rooms at Vincent Pallotti Hospital, planned for the end of 2020, are awaited with excitement.

Dr Eduan prides himself on his ability to help his patients to the best of his ability by embracing good listening skills, effective communication, compassion and
knowledge and skill honed during years of private gastroenterology practice.

When not at work you will find Dr Eduan with his wife and red-haired twins or cycling crazy road and mountain bike races or training for the next Ironman. 

He has a dedicated team of friendly and efficient endoscopy and office staff that makes his patients feel at ease.

Dr Eduan Deetlefs sees the whole spectrum of gastrointestinal and liver related diseases with a special interest in inflammatory bowel disease and anaemia caused by obscure intestinal bleeding.

He furthermore has an in room infusion centre at his Mediclinic Milnerton Practice for administration of biological and intravenous iron infusions.

He performs numerous procedures including diagnostic and therapeutic gastroscopies and colonoscopies.

He believes that quality endoscopy is of the utmost importance as subtle findings might be life-altering.

Dr Eduan has a wealth of up to date knowledge in the management of inflammatory bowel disease and in addition he has a trial centre, Spoke Research Inc, that specializes in biological trials for Inflammatory Bowel Disease.
